Splendid New Year dear reader, it is a great and wonderful year when hopes and aspirations come alive. I will begin today’s write up with another story
Sometimes in 2016, having resigned from my work in Ibadan the previous year because I wanted to relocate to Lagos, I was in severe hunger. The hunger was so much that sometimes I would move my mattress to the wall so that the coldness of the wall on my body would, to an extent, comfort me and soothe the hunger temporarily. Not long after breakthrough came, but the first ever payment I received in over a year after I resigned from my job came with so much lesson.
I had done something I needed to do and I was promised to receive a credit alert, I was happy, I was planning how I would spend the money once I got it. One hour after I got home, I didn’t get alert, after two hours, three hours and so on no alert, night came, I slept in hunger, I woke up and the first thing I checked was my phone for the alert, no alert. I didn’t want to act desperate or disturb the person that sent the money in order to maintain my poise but I was maintaining the poise inside grade one hunger. I checked my phone every five minutes the following day for the alert, nothing. When it was exactly five minutes past four when banks were supposed to close, I was forced to put a call through to the man to remind him of the payment in case he had forgotten and he said, “what are you talking about? I sent the money to you immediately you left here, you better go and check your account” there wasn’t bank app on the phone then, I ran to the nearest ATM to check my balance with my card and lo and behold, the money was there. The money I was expecting had been in my bank account for over 24 hours while I was battling with hunger unknowingly. And it occurred to me that is exactly why majority are suffering unnecessarily in this life
Most people are not aware of what they have. People pray day and night, going from one mountain to the other asking God for what He has done already. 2 Peter 1: 3 says, “as His divine power HAS GIVEN to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the KNOWLEDGE OF HIM who called us by glory and virtue”. One of the signs that someone is ignorant of who God is, is that they run from pillar to post looking for spiritual helper and prayer when God has already done what they are asking for. Let’s even take for instance, someone looking for a spouse, it is not your prayer that would now make God create a man or a woman for you to marry, the person must have already been existing for decades, in other words, God created the spouse you are praying for decades ago, go get him/her. God would not incorporate a company in order to give you job because you are praying for a job, the job was already existing. When I listen to people’s prayer points, 95% of them are waste of time, God had done them long time ago. The fact that they are even asking again is an indication of why they don’t have those things.
There was a time I used to ignorantly be part of those who believe that one major sign of spirituality is how long you can pray. So “spiritual people” conjure all sorts of words together, quoting all sorts of scriptures and tongues with many theatrics just so they could be perceived as spiritual. Even Jesus never prayed for more than 5 minutes when He needed something; when He fed over five thousand people with five loaves of bread with two fishes, He only gave thanks, He only gave thanks and raised Lazarus from death, when the sick came to Him, He wasn’t binding and kicking the devil before helping them because He knew He had the authority, He knew the devil was beneath Him already. The only time it was recorded that He prayed for a long hour and His sweat was almost turning to a clot of blood was when He was about to be crucified, and the bible says it was because He was battling with His flesh. May be some long prayers are a form of carnality, not spirituality
I am not talking down on prayers or praying for long hours, I am saying knowing to receive what God has done already is more important than praying. What is the point of making money if you can’t access or spend it? I sincerely don’t focus on praying for long hours, as a matter of fact I don’t pray about most of the things people pray about because I have them already (this had been my practice and belief for a long even I seemingly had nothing physically), I focus on receiving. I set audacious goals, make audacious moves, say audacious things because I am confident that God has given to me already ALL THINGS that pertain to life and godliness, it is what I need or want per time that I withdraw from the “all things” He has done while the rest remain in the reservoir till they are needed.
I am very confident that God has done the thing you are asking for even before you started praying. You are the one that needs to get up and go get them.
