Take Care of your mind
I think it was sometimes in 2007, I was in year 3 studying Physiology at the University of Ilorin mini Campus at Agbo Oba, Ilorin Kwara State. All the students were moved to the permanent site except the medical and paramedical students, the hostels full of beds were empty as a result. We, the medical and paramedical students, just took over and occupied the hostels whether we paid or not, the school knew they could do nothing to prevent or control that situation so we were just left alone at least for that semester. It was only students of the faculty of medical sciences were left at the mini-campus therefore everyone almost knew every other person. It was more fun, we could gather in any of the rooms and just jist, play and do all sorts. It was on one of those days when we gathered in one of the rooms chatting and making fun of one another that an incident happened.
I was using a small Nokia phone then and my phone was always locked with pin. While the chit-chats were going on I needed to use the restroom so I dropped my phone on one of the bunks and left the room. To my surprise on getting back from the rest room, I met a friend Adetutu Adejinmi, a medical student, operating my phone. I was dumbfounded. I asked him how he knew my password, he responded that his mind told him. He said there was no code he needed to know that he couldn’t know. I found it hard to believe. I picked my phone, went into an empty room to change my pin, I gave the phone to Jimi to open it, Jimi placed his five fingers flat on the bed for a minute after which he collected the phone from me and unlocked it. I changed the pin more than 4 times, he kept unlocking the phone. Then I decide to change the pin to 1111 and gave the phone to Jimi, after placing his fingers flat on the bed again as usual, he looked at me and said, “what happened, I am not getting it again, all I am getting is 111”, I screamed and asked Jimi, “how did you do it?” he didn’t utter a word, he simply just reached under his pillow and handed me a book, titled, “The power of your subconscious mind” by Joseph Murphy. I had to go look for the book and buy; such is the power of your mind
Every issue of life stems out of the mind, nothing touches you without first touching your mind and you become nothing without first being that in your mind. Napoleon Hill said, “it is either you control your mind or it controls you”. “The sky is not the limit, your mind is”, said Marilyn Munroe. Tony Robbins said, “whatever you hold in your mind on a consistent basis is exactly what you will experience in your life. The bible says as a man thinks in his heart (mind) so is he. Every journey starts first in the mind, every accomplishment happens first in the mind. You can’t travel within (in your mind) whether forward or backward and standstill without.
The mind is divided into 2 parts; the conscious and the subconscious. The journey starts first in the conscious where you are aware of the thought, at this point the thought doesn’t carry much power, if you dwell so much on it or keep practicing it, it then goes into your subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is powerful and independent of your will. This is where things happen on auto-pilot. Take for instance, learning how to drive; you start from subconsciously unable to drive, then when you pick interest in driving, you move to consciously unable to drive so you go for lessons, after a few lessons you move to consciously able, at this point you know what the clutch, throttle, brakes, gears do but to you still have to take a look at the gears before changing them, then after few practices you move to subconsciously able. At this time, you can be making an important call that takes the whole of your mind and keep driving and you will still find yourself where you are going.
The mind is more powerful than we can imagine, it is the degree to which you are able to use your that you will know. I believe that most of these people that parade as seers or prophets are just those who have taken time to master the mind and how to read mind with little or no correlation to their relationships with God
The mind is also like a virgin fertile land, if you don’t cultivate it and be deliberate about who goes on and grow in it, “weeds” will grow. In other words, if you are not deliberate about what goes on and grow in your mind, something will definitely grow in it and just like weeds are mostly unwanted, the thoughts and the things that will grow in it might be to your disadvantage. Most of the things some people have come to accept as destiny are things, they have been brought up to accept in their minds as realities or the norms. The day they begin to question these thoughts is the day they realize there are so much possibilities
Take advantage of your mind by deliberately cultivating it in order to advance in life
